A 43-year-old woman presented with occasional blurring of vision since 2 months before. She had normal visual acuity in both eyes. Typical papilledema was present in both eyes as the sole pathological finding. She showed no abnormal neurological manifestations including magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). Cerebrospinal fluid showed normal components but its pressure was elevated above 250 mmH2O. These findings led to the diagnosis of idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Progressive visual field defect was detected 8 months later. She was given peroral acetazolamide at the daily dosis of 750 mg 3 months later. Papilledema and visual field defect resolved another 6 months later. This case illustrates that perimetry and stereophotography of the fundus may be useful for idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Peroral acetazolamide may be beneficial for this clinical entity.
