  • Look Inside

The occurrence of increased intraspinal pressure and papilledema associated with intraspinal tumor is rare. Incidence of such cases is 5.5% of the cervical and 1 to 3% of the lower intraspinal tumors.

The present authors reported a case of a neurinoma of the cauda equina causing such symptoms. A 43-year-old man was admitted to our department in December 1968 with complaints of attacks of loss of vision, headache and tinnitus. On examination, there was papilledema of 2 diopters in the both eyes. Auditory acuity was slightly diminished on the both sides.
