  • Look Inside

A 59-year-old male presented with impaired visual acuity in both eyes. He had been diagnosed with bilateral orbital lymphoid hyperplasia 23 years before. He had received radiation to his left orbit 16 years before. Biopsy of right orbital tumor 4 years before had led to the diagnosis of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT)lymphoma, followed by radiation and systemic chemotherapy. His corrected visual acuity was 0.1 right and 0.5 left. He showed progression of orbital tumor, systemic lymphnode swelling and gammaglobulinemia. He had also gastric tumor, which was diagnosed as MALT lymphoma. Biopsy of cervical lymphnode showed no clonality of Ig gene. Systemic chemotherapy led to partial regression of lymphoma and to decreased serum level of immunoglobulin. MALT lymphoma in the present case appeared to be of orbital origin.
