A 67-year-old woman received cataract surgery with implantation of intraocular lens(IOL)in her left eye. She regained visual acuity of 0.7. The implanted hydrogel IOL started to opacify 6 months later. She received extraction and reinsertion of IOL 20 months after initial surgery. Anterior vitrectomy and sulcus suture had to be performed due to intraoperative complications. She has been doing well thereafter with visual acuity of 0.5 and with no opacification of IOL. This case illustrates that due precaution is necessary in extraction and reinsertion of hydrogel IOL.
