  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We observed 65 cases of orbital tumor during the past 6 years 6 months. There were 24 cases of lymphoproliferative diseases in the series. They comprised marginal zone B cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT lymphoma)15 cases(64%),lymphoid hyperplasia 5 cases(20%),and diffuse large B cell lymphoma 4 cases(17%). All the cases of diffuse large B cell lymphoma resulted in remission after resection, irradiation and chemotherapy. The tumor recurred locally in one out of 5 resected cases of MALT lymphoma and in 2 out of 4 resected cases of conjunctival MALT lymphoma. All the 3 cases resulted in remission following radiation or anti-CD20 therapy. Total excision of the tumor may be a first choice in the management of orbital MALT lymphoma. Local recurrence is a liability when it originates from the conjunctiva.
