　抄録：1971年以降，RAの前足部変形に対してResection Arthroplastyを行ない術後短期間は除痛効果に優れていたが，その後の再調査結果では変形や胝股の再発がみられ歩行時の不安定感などの訴えもみられるようになってきた．歩行に際して母趾は重要な役割を演ずるために1977年以降，母趾機能の改善を目的としてClayton法に母趾Implant Arthroplastyの併用を行ない良好な結果を得ている．症例は21例30足で，術後追跡期間は1年から9年6ヵ月（平均3年）である．本手術法の手術成績を除痛効果，各変形の矯正，胼胝の消失，歩行能力や履物の改善などについて検討を行なった．
