　転移性脊椎腫瘍に対する比較的緊急性の高い手術を高次機能病院間の連携によって施行しており，これまでの経験について報告する．転移性脊椎腫瘍の治療は保存治療が第1選択であるが，脊髄麻痺を回避するために緊急の手術治療を考慮すべき状況に遭遇することも稀ではない．手術適応の決定に際しては適切かつ迅速な判断が求められるが，単一施設内のみでその決定および実施を完結するには困難な状況が存在する．われわれのシステムは，専門的な分野別医療を有効に提供できる一つのモデルになり得ると考えている．

　We report our experience with an inter-hospital referral system that appeared to be very effective in relation to the performance of surgical treatment for patients with a progressive neurological deficit caused by spinal cord compression by a metastatic tumor.　Sometimes it is very difficult to decide when and how to treat patients with spinal cord compression by a malignant tumor.　Use of the referral system allowed 17 patients to be treated surgically with minimal delay and with good neurological restoration.　Our referral system allowed the patients to receive state-of-the-art treatment from both an oncological and a neurological standpoint.
