Lumbar Spinal Canal Stenosis in Elderly Patients Over 70 Years-Old. Quality of Life as Evaluated by Patients

　現在，わが国では世界に類を見ない高齢化が進行中ですが，高齢者が生きる上には移動能力を確保することが最重要です．腰部脊柱管狭窄症は，ありふれた疾患であるにもかかわらず，国民一般における知名度の低い疾患です．笠井裕一先生には本疾患の知名度の調査結果をご報告いただきました．和田簡一郎先生には患者の家族から見た手術の評価をご報告いただきました．柳橋　寧先生には，除圧単独手術と固定手術の成績を分析して報告していただきました．徳橋泰明先生には変性すべり症や不安定性を有する脊椎症性脊柱管狭窄症例に脊椎固定手術の適応があることをご報告いただきました．紺野愼一先生には，70歳以上と70歳未満の術後の評価をRoland-Morris機能障害質問表を用いて，分析・ご報告いただきました．ここに述べられたご意見を元に高齢者の移動能力の問題点が浮きぼりにされれば幸いです．

　The number of elderly people in Japan has been rapidly increasing, and the rate of the increase is faster than ever before any where in the world. Walking ability is extremely important, to the everyday life of elderly people, and the lumbar spinal canal stenosis may impair it.
