　赤色血栓を栓子として用いたウサギ中大脳動脈塞栓モデルを用い，栓子周辺の変化を直視下に持続観察した。塞栓後2時間のうちに18例中8例で栓子の周辺に白色血栓が形成された。血栓溶解剤としてtissueplasminogen activator（TPA）を投与した10例中9例で再開通がみられた。白色血栓は栓子とともに消失したが，2例では栓子の縮小にともなって新しく形成された。対象群8例では3例でのみ部分開通した。TPAは栓子の溶解には有効であったが，栓子による閉塞後ばかりでなく溶解後にも血流変化による血小板の活性化が起こって二次的血栓が形成されやすいことがわかった。すなわち，血栓溶解療法の際にはTPA単独投与でなく，血小板凝集抑制療法を同時に行うことが必要であると考えられた。

To investigate the occurrence of cerebral embo-lism, a rabbit embolic stroke model was used for the continuous monitoring of the change of the throm-bus. Red thrombus was directly injected into the internal carotid artery via the catheter inserted into the external carotid artery. The migration of the thrombus into the middle cerebral artery was judged as the completion of an embolism. The change of the thrombus and its movement was observed for a period of two hours.
