  • Look Inside

For a 50-year-old Caucasean female epileptic, whohad had frequent grand malseizures for years in spite of heavy anticonvulsant medication, "partial commissurotomy" was performed, severing the body, genu, restrum of corpus callosum, septum pellucidum and massa intermedia. Postoperatively, the seizures were dramatically under control, al-though anticonvulsant dosage was reduced. She recovered in 3 weeks from postoperative manifest left-sided apraxia as an interhemispheric discon-nection syndrome. The literatures of commissuro-tomy were reviewed and the function of the non-dominant cerebrohemisphere was discussed, which has been evidenced by examining commissu-rotomized cases with special tests.
