  • Look Inside

A 10 year-old, right-handed boy was admitted to our hospital because of Jacksonian seizure. The most interesting was his complaint of a feeling of "loss of his left hand", as one symptome of the seizure. The carotid angiography revealed out the intracerebral hematoma resulting from the rupture of a small angioma at the right parietal lobe. The EEG and the brain scanning also exhibited well the localization of the hematoma.

The operation, performed successfully, revealed out the hematoma spreading in a spindle form separating the nerve fibers without severe destruc-tion of the cerebral tissues around, and the patient recovered completely.

Although the matter of neural localization of such a complex percept as the body image must be open to debut, the bulk of clinical evidence favours the right parietal lobe. Our case is one good example of a feeling of "loss of the left hand" induced by the right parietal lesion.
