  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A case of 8 year old boy whose clinical course has been followed up for 5 years is presented.

Aggressive survey of his arteriograms has been carried out, and arteriography has been performed 3 times altogether during the follow up period. The first arteriogram taken immiediately after the initial episode revealed partial occlusion of the circle of Willis, and the subsequent arteriograms which was taken 5 years later disclosed complete occlusion of the circle of Willis. The author believes that "Occlusion of the circle of Willis" is an acquired slowly progressing occ-lusive disease of main trunks of intracranial arteries including the circle of Willis, and is quite different from the idiopathic occlusion of the internal carotid artery which chiefly affects its cervical portion.
