To reduce severe and unpleasant reaction, such as headache, nausea vomiting, during and after encephalo-graphy, thiethylperazine dimalate (Toresten) was injected in 129 patients at a dose of 6.5 mg-19.5 mg. either subcutaneously or intravenously before 30 minutes of the procedure.

Nausea and vomiting were observed in 53.5%, 21.6 % of the control series, whereas in 17%, 11% of injected series. Incidence of nausea and vomiting reduced to 10%, 5.6% in 90 patients who were pre-pared with thiethylperazize and injected 50-100 ml. of air intrathecally.

With this drug beneficial effect was observed in the control of nausea and vomiting during and after pneumoencephalography.
