  • Look Inside

Fluphenazine was given orally to 17 schiz-ophrenics at the dosage of 1 mg/daily for 5 days initially, 2 mg/daily for 5 days, 3 mg/ daily for 5 days and there after at the differ-ent dosages case by case. The Minor Tremor (MT) in 12 cases and EEG in 14 cases were investigated before, on the 5th, 10th and 15th day after starting the medication of Fluphe-nazine by means of the automatic frequency analyser. These frequency distributions were studied in connection with the therapeutic effects and extrapyramidal symptoms.

1) Those cases, with typical frequency di-stribution of MT before the medication, were slightly improved, no matter how the distri-bution pattern was altered by the medication.

Among those cases with atypical frequency distribution of NT before the medication, ca-ses whose MT turned to typical pattern by medication were improved and cases whose MT remained atypical were not improved.

The extrapyrapyramidal symptoms less ap-peared in those cases with typical MT pattern during the medication.

2) The frequency distrbution pattern of EEG is neither related to therapeutic effects nor extrapyramidal symptoms.

3) The pararell relationship between the frequency distribution of MT and EEG in nine patients was not found.
