10歳の小児の巨大なMeningiomaの1例

GIANT MENINGIOMA IN A TEN YEAR OLD BOY

I．いとぐち

　Meningiornaは頭蓋内腫瘍として，gliomaについで最もしばしばみられるものである。その大部分は良性腫瘍であるから，時に巨大な腫瘤をみることがある。meningiomaの多くは成人に見られる。頻度は45歳を頂点としていて，幼少年者の発生頻度はきわめて少くないことが統計的に知られている（後述）。私どもは10歳の少年に見られた巨大なmeningiomaの1例に遭遇したのでこれを報告する。

About a year before surgery while being treated as genuine epilepsy the patient deve-loped headache and visual disturbance. The case, however, was still treated symptomati-cally by pediatricians until he was transferred to the hands of neurosurgeons only three days prior to surgery. There was right hemip-legia with E. E. G. evidence of a lesion in the left temporal area. Simple skull X-ray revealed thickening of the left temporal bone. Angi-ography showed a tumor shadow along the left arteria cerebralis media.

A tumor in the left cerebral hemisphere was removed by left temporoparietal craniotomy. The tumor measured 12.5×8×6cm and weighed 320 gm.

Histopathological examinations established a diagnosis of fibroblastic type meningioma.

Meningioma in children is rare, and stati-stical studies are made bibliographically.
