I．はじめに
外傷や脳動脈瘤手術の開頭時，偶然に主病変とは別の脳腫瘍が見いだされることがある．また剖検時にも，生前には気づかれなかった脳腫瘍が認められることがあり，この場合，特に髄膜腫例が多いとされる1,17．著者らは過去12年間に38例の髄膜腫を経験しているが，このうち全く偶然の機会に見いだされた同腫瘍は5例であった．本論文では，これら5例をincidental meningio-maと仮称して，5例の発見の経緯，臨床上の特徴，その臨床病理学的意義について言及する．
Intracranial tumors are accidentally discovered duringoperations for neurosurgical diseases, such as head traumaor cerebral aneurysm. Furthermore, in the autopsyspecimen, intracranial tumors which had not been recognizedbefore the patient's life are sometimes found incidentally.Those tumors are; meningioma, glioma, pituitary adenoma,and so forth. Among these instances, meningioma seemsto be the most frequent.
In this paper, the authors discussed five cases of asympto-matic meningiomas found unexpectedly, refered as "Inci-dental Meningioma."
