  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We gave trimeprazine to 18 patients having various psychiatric diseases and obtained the following results. 1) This drug was moderate-ly effective for depression, depressive state and neurosis. 2) It had no noteworthy effect on schizophrenia, but we have other matters to study such as dosage and duration of me-dication. 3) It was most effective in elimin-ating sleeplessness, melancholic feelings, an-xiety and hypochondria. 4) The side effects we encountered were thirst, fatigue, nasal obstruction, drowsiness and constipation, but Parkinsonian syndrome was not observed. 5) The structural formula of trimeprazine resembles that of levomepromazine, and some similarity was also observed between the cli-nical effects of the two compounds.
