  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In succession to the previous preliminary report on the combined treatment of Resochin (chloroquinoline diphosphate) with other anti-convulsants applied to 3 cases of epilepsy, this report has dealt the results of follow-up study of the same treatment applied to 90 epileptic subjects staying in refractory state in spite of various anticonvulsant treatments.

1) Aremarkable improvement (decreased more than 80% in seizure frequency) was mea-sured 42% in whih completely improved cases were involved, however the rate of improve-ment due to seizure type differed as follows : 23% in the convulsive, 53% in the petit mal and 90% in the psychomotor.

2) Dose of Resochin to be added to the basic anticonvulsant seemed being safety and suffi-cient about 200mg in adults and within 50mg in children for administration of long duration. Usually the effect appears very soon such as 2-3 days of within one week. Also there oc-curs a remarkable improvement in EEG signs.

3) A possibility of the treatment combined with anticonvulsants and chloroquinoline di-phosphate for clinical practice was concluded, especially for cure of refractory epilepsy with petit mal or psychomotor seizures.
