Electroencephalographic changes in humaninduced by the phrenotropic drugs given intravenously, intramuscularly and orally were observed by means of automatic frequency analyzer.

Examinees were fifty-five in all, schizophrenic patients admitted in the psychiatric clinic of Kurume University. The drugs used were amobarbital, meprobamate, chlorproma-zine, perphenazine, reserpine and frenquel.

In the experiment by intravenous injection, the doses were amobarbital 5mg/kg, chlorpro-mazine 0.5mg/kg, reserpine 1mg and frenquel 2mg/kg. In case of intramuscular injection, chlorpromazine 0.5mg/kg and perphenazine 5mg.

In case of oral administration, amobarbital 0.2g, meprobamate 1200mg, chlorpromazine 100mg, perphenazine 10mg and reserpine 1mg, dividing three times daily for seven days.

After injection, frequency changes were recorded with the lapse of time, contrasting with EEG pattern recorded before injection. In case of internal application, frequency cha-nges were recorded before and seven days after administration.

1) The electroencephalographic changes in-duced by amobarbital was increase of fast activity.
