1. The intermittent photic stimuli (flicker stimuli) by various frequencies were given to normal adults, and the frequency charac-teristics of brain activity in the occiput were investigated.

2. The analysis of recorded EEG was in-vestigated in occiput only, and its procedures were as follows: first, by calculating the crosscorrelation between the recorded EEG and stimulating curve, the EEGs, which had not relation with the response to stimulation, were eliminated and the EEGs only in rela-tion to stimulation were left, second, by the frequency power spectrum of above crosscor-relation curves, the mean intensities of syn-chronised EEG to the stimulating frequencies were shown; third, these first and second procedures were carried out on each case of various stimulating frequencies. The stimu-lating frequencies in ordinates and the mean intensities of synchronised EEG in abscissae were plotted. This figures are called the frequency characteristic curve, in which the aspects of responses of EEG to each stimula-ting frequency are evidently shown. On the control EEG, the mean time-courses were made clear by its autocorrelation curves, and then its frequency power spectra were drawn.

3. All frequency characteristic curves ma-de by above procedures had peak in the alpha band.
