  • Look Inside

Reserpine administration was held on three cases of Huntington's chorea in two fami-lies. The therapy was quite effective on motor symptoms, but it tended to give cer-tain unfavorable influences upon psychic symptoms. Namely, choreopathic character changes (Choreopathie nach Kehrer) became so apparent in two cases as to make the nursing quite difficult. But in another case, psychic symptoms began to show certain amendment, along with the betterment of motor symptoms, throuth reserpine treat-ment. Those motor and psychic changes brought about through the therapy disappea-red, however, soon after the abolishment of reserpine treatment. So that the administra-tion for certain long period was desired for the maintenance of the symptom ameliora-tion. In short, the reserpine treatment is considered to be one of the preferable symp-tomatic therapies in case of Huntington's chorea.
