Using metharbital for the control of seizures in 39 cases of epilepsies, the author obtained the following results.

(1) Massine myochonic seizures-31 cases.This new drug was certainly effective in 13 cases (41.9%).

(2) Grand mal or focal seizures-8 cases. Effective in only one case, and not effective in 5 cases.

(3) Metharbital may be more effective for the cases with organic brain damage than for the idiopathic cases, but no difinitive conclusions could be settled from our experi-ences.

(4) The amelioration of electroencephalo-grams was demonstrated in half cases among 8 cases.

(5) The tolerance dose for each age groups may be the followings:

100mg per day for infants under 1 year of age,

150mg per day for infants from 1 to 3 years of age, 200mg per day for children from 4 to 10 years of age.

(6) The allergic exanthema of measles type developed only in one case. Any other side effect did not appeared during the period of drug administration ranging one month to 2 years.
