  • Look Inside

Pipradrol and Ritalin, or "central nervous stimulant", were administered to 10 normal subjects and 97 neuro-psychotic patients. During those clinical surveys, the follownigs were obtained.

1) In normal subjects, by medication of 1-12 mg Pipradrol and 10-20 mg of Ritalin, there had been introduced in almost all cases such symptoms as clearness of brain-func-tion, psychomotor excitement of slight degree, anxiety, insomnia, heat acceleration and flushing of the face, etc.

2) Those stimulants were effective in treat-ment of depressive condition, especially in reactive-depressive psychoses, and also of drowsiness following administration of a large dosis of anticonvulsants.

3) In schizophrenia, there were no signifi-cant changes in deteriorated cases, however in other cases an improvement of inactive symptoms. Occasionally, especially under certain circumstances, an activation of hallu-cination, anxiety and psychomotor was in-troduced: this means a side-effect.

4) Also, the treatment with those drugs was effective to the patients such as post-traumatic disturbance without dementia, depressive state due to neurotic reaction and enuresis nocturna.
