  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We made a reserach on EEG changes before and after the frontal lobectomy, employing 2 cases of schizophrenia. On purpose to observe how the defect of brain parenchyma throw influence on EEG, we compared chan-ges in potential activity regarding a numberof lobes, therefore, through bipolar and mo-nopolar lead of excised and non-excised region. One case was that of right frontal ablation and the other was the case of bilateral abla-tion. As far off leads, we employed two methods of ordinary bipolar and monopolar lead (setting electrodes on frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobes), and specific bipolar and monopolar lead (setting four electrodes on excised region, and one on parietal lobes).

From described results we want to con-summate the conclusion as follows: 1) From the standpoint of EEG the defect of brain tissue seems to depend on the poten-cial activity of that excised region.

2) By bipolar lead, EEG of excised portion showed the characteristics of low voltage and slow waves.

3) By monopolar lead, both ordinary and specific methods presented synchronization.
