  • Look Inside

1. We had previously (1954) reported the biological and neurological changes about ei-ght cases of schizophrenia and one case cf epilepsy performed the partial resection of frontal brain (frontal lobectomy). Afterwards we followed up their course in same stand-point comparing with some lobotomized casesduring about five years after operations.

2. In most all cases the blood cell count, the blood picture, the bleeding time and the coagulation time were almost within normal limits. And also in cerebrospinal fluid the cell count, the protein content, the globulin reaction and the colloidal reaction did not show any abnormality.

3. The electrolytes such as sodium, kari-urn, calcium and chloride in serum and cereb-rospinal fluid could not be found the patholo-gical changes. As to the fraction of protein in serum and cerebrospinal fluid such as albu-min, α1-globulin, α2-globulin, β-globulin and γ-globulin, the β-globulin fraction in fluid that is supposed to increase on the occation of the degenerative change of the brain, repre-sented the increasing tendency, however the other fractions were almost within normal limits in both serum and fluid.
