  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In this paper, so called "pressure-reflex" was studied in many interest clinical cases.

1. Positive pressure-sweating-reflex was fo-und in the cases of patients subjected to tho-racoplasty or artificial pneumothorax and su-fferred from the exsudative pleurisy or other pathologic changes of the pleura.

It may be infered that various kind of chan-ge of the skin, the fascia, the pleura and so on likewise stimulate the receptors of pressure sensation, following to the pressure-reflex.

2. In the case of patients with diseases of the hypothalmohypophyseal system and normal subjects administered with a drug selectively affecting the hypothalamus, negative pressure-sweating-reflex was found.

3. In the case of a patient with extradural-tumor, the pressure-sweating-reflex showed ne-gative reaction.

This patient has complained of disturbances of protopathic sensation in the corresponding area of the skin, but not epicritic sensation. Following recovery of protopathic sensation by removing tumors, positive pressure-sweat-ing-reflex appeared.

From this fact, the pressure-reflex might have a close relation to the pathway conducting Pro-toparhic sensation.
