  • Look Inside

Clinicostatistical observation were made upon 535 epileptic patients.

1) Regarding the type of epileptic seizures, there was no major difference in % concern-ing grand mal and psychomotor seizures com-pared with the reports from U.S.A. but the percentage of petit mal seizure was extremely low. (Authors 4.1%, gibbs 10.5%, Lennox 31.7%)

2) Of all the patients, 42.0% had aura, which was somewhat lower than the 56.4% given by Lennsx, because we did'nt classified motor phenomena as aura.

3) The cases of psychomotor seizures weremost frequently accompnied by aura, particu-larly visceral aura.

4) 64.5% of all the patients developed their first seizures between the age 10~25.

5) Regarding the past history, the birth in-jury was most frequent, and as characteristic to our material, Ekiri and Japanese Encephali-tis were also very frequent.

6) Family history of epilepsy was noted in 15.1%.

7) So-called genuine epilepsy, in which any exogenic cause was not discovered amounted to 61.8% of all the patients.
