Use of Posters to Provide Information on Driving Restrictions while on Psychotropic Drugs

抄録

　大部分の向精神薬には添付文書上運転「禁止」規定があるため，患者が治療と運転の両立を望む時，処方医には倫理的ジレンマを生じやすい。筆者は，このジレンマを軽減するため，運転制限に関する薬剤情報を正確に提供する院内掲示ポスターを作成した。ポスターでは，大部分の向精神薬が運転「禁止」規定を有すること，および若干の例外があることを示した上，運転「禁止」規定のある薬剤を受け入れ難い場合には治療の早期段階で申し出るよう説明した。

　このポスターには，処方医の説明義務を補完する役割と，患者の自己決定機会を保障する役割の双方を期待することができる。このポスターの利用は，処方医の倫理的ジレンマを軽減するかもしれない。

　［Background] Restriction on driving vehicles when on psychotropic drugs is a major factor affecting a patient's daily life. Since the majority of psychotropics come with strict driving restrictions, an ethical dilemma arises in a situation where a patient needs medication, but also needs to drive.

　［Materials] A method was developed for providing drug information (DI) through an original poster that (1) explains that, in Japan, most package inserts of psychotropic drugs provide strict instructions on driving restrictions；(2) lists some psychotropic drugs free from this driving restriction；and (3) requests readers to inform their physicians in the early stage of therapy if they do not wish to take such drugs because of the driving restriction.

　［Discussion] The poster is expected to complement the physician's accountability towards and advocating role for patients through providing precise DIs. The poster has the potential of reducing the physician's ethical dilemma concerning driving restrictions.
