  • Look Inside

A new wrist watch style blood pressure monitor (BP-100) which works on the basis of pulse wave velocity changes was evaluated by comprarison with standard mercury sphygmomanometry (cuff method). We tested this device in 45 subjects (28 males, 17 females) with a mean age of 49±19 years (range 23-79). The BP-100 was calibrated by measuring the bloood pressure before and after exercise by a treadmill stress test (Bruce protocol to 80% maximum heart rate) and entering the values into the BP-100.
