  • Look Inside

Quantitative evaluation of ventricular contrac-tion abnormality by gated blood pool study was at-tempted using temporal Fourier analysis (phase analysis). The value of the left ventricular ejectionfraction (LVEF), ejection rate and the standard deviation (SD) of the phase distribution histogram were clinically evaluated.

Five normal persons and 9 patients with intraven-tricular conduction abnormalities were selected for gated blood pool study. In all of the normal subjects and WP\V syndrome, the SD was within 10 degree and the phase distrubition histogram showed nor-mal findings. On the contrary, in the patients with intraventricular conduction abnormalities such as CLBBB, LAD & CRBBB and pace-maker implanta-tion, the SD was significantly elevated and the phase distribution histogram indicated asynchrony.

We concluded that phase analysis provides relia-ble and valuable informations in the detection of ventricular contraction abnormality in the patients with intraventrucular conduction abnormalities.
