  • Look Inside

A histopatholgical and histochmical study ofthe pulmonary arterial lesion was carried out for three autopsy cases of systemic lupus erythe-matosus (SLE) associated with pulmonary hyper-tension.

We found various types of pulmonary vascular lesions which were evident for pulmonary hyper-tension, including "plexiform lesion". Also necrotizing angiitis of the pulmonary artery was recognized. Deposition of acid mucopolysaccha-rides in the pulmonary arterial wall was observed, and the site of the deposition in the walls varied according to types of the pulmonary arteries.
