　低酸素性肺血管攣縮発生のメカニズムに肺から放出されるchemical mediatorsが関与していることを示唆する多くの報告があるが^1）2），今なお定説がない。

　1968年Haugeら^3）によって低酸素性肺血管攣縮発生にhistamineの重要性が強調されたが，以後の報告ではhistamineの関与を否定するものもある^4）。その他serotonin^5），　catecholamine^6）およびangiotensin^7）などについても検討されてきたがいずれもmediatorsとしての可能性が少ないとされている。

We investigated the possibility that a prostaglandin (PG) may mediate the pulmonary vascular pressor response to alveolar hypoxia. In the first group, we have measured the pressor response to hypoxia before and after prostaglandins synthesis antagonism with indomethacin (10 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg) in cats. In the second group, the levels of PGF_2α and PGE in the perfusate in isolated cat lungs were measured by a radioimmunoassay. The following results were obtained.
