　気管支喘息患者の肺病態生理については今日迄多数報告されているが，其れ等は主として肺容量，ガス分布状態，換気量に関する研究であり，近年心カテーテル法による肺循環の方面も注目されているが，いづれにせよこれ等は主として非発作時の成績又はアドリナリン等の薬物の影響を見たものである。

　気管支喘息患者の発作時に見られる呼吸困難を肺生理学の立場から検索する事は，この疾患の性質上特に重要な問題を含むもので，この為には所謂Pressure-Flow Relationshipを求める必要がある。しかし従来胸腔内圧，気流速度個々についての成績は見られるが，圧—抵抗—気流速度関係についてはSheldon et Otisの報告を見るに過ぎず，又之も発作時の現象を取扱つたものではない。

In 8 asthmatic patients, machanical behaviors of the lung were studied during both remissions and asthmatic attacks provocated with 1: 100 pilocarpine inhalation.

In remissions, the effective compliance of the lung in patients decreased, the maximal resistance increased considerably, and the non-elastic work was 4-fold of that in normal subjects. The average power factor was 0.75 in patients, while 0.45 in the normal.
