We investigated the type of endoscopic and histological findings, which the T1 cancer with a “poor prognosis” had. Examination of 1,083 lesions, including 667 endoscopically treated lesions and 416 surgical lesions, resulted in only 9 lesions having a “poor prognosis”. Compared with lesions having “good prognosis”, a significant difference was found in “size of lesion, 25mm or more”, “endoscopic gross type(mixed and advanced type)”, “pathological type(mixed type)”, “depth of invasion(SM infiltration)”, “ulcer findings”, “lymphatic involvement”, and “venous involvement”. Based on the above results, it is considered that the characteristic of T1 cancer with “a flashy macroscopic type with ulcer findings and suspected SM infiltration with 25mm or more in size” endoscopically and “differentiated and undifferentiated adenocarcinoma coexist with SM invasion, lymphatic involvement, and venous involvement” histologically.
