In the gastric cancer screening method, the so-called “ABC method”, using the combination assay of Helicobacter pylori IgG antibody and serum PG(pepsinogen)levels, 25% individuals were diagnosed with AIG(autoimmune gastritis)and classified as group D. However, after adopting the revised criteria for this screening method, the individuals with AIG were expected to be categorized in either group C or D. Very low PG levels and PG I/II ratio are key to diagnosing AIG. An AIG case that met the group D criteria shows some representative endoscopic findings presented in a multicenter study of AIG in Japan.
