要旨　最近22年間に慶應義塾大学外科で手術された小腸病変は110例であった．その内訳は，小腸腫瘍が36例，炎症性・潰瘍性疾患は42例，その他が32例であった．小腸病変110例のうち下血，貧血，便潜血などの出血症状のいずれかが57症例（51.8％）に認められた．出血症状の内訳は下血27例（47.4％），貧血36例（63.2％）であった．小腸出血性病変はまれではあるが，出血を起こしている急性期に確定診断をし，出血部位の確認をすることは，検索範囲が広く，原因となる疾患が多種多様であり，各種診断技術が進歩したにもかかわらず必ずしも容易ではない．そのため出血が遷延したり，急性大量出血を起こし外科手術の対象となることが多い．

　In the past 22 years, we have operated on 110 cases of small intestinal disease. Number of these cases were as follows: tumor 36 (malignant 23, benign 13), inflammatory bowel disease 42, others 32. 57 of these 110 cases (51.8%) had bleeding sign (melena 27 cases 47.4%, anemia 36 cases 63.2%).

　Small intestinal bleeding is rare, but may prove to be a clinical and diagnostic challenge, particularly when the bleeding is massive and continuous, so that, sometimes (emergency) operation is carried out.
