  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A historical review of literature concerning radiographic diagnosis of gastric polyps was done by focusing attention on a period from the first publication to Vol. 20 of the "I to Cho (Stomach and Intestine)". A controversy on polyp-carcinoma sequence of the stomach, which has started in Japan about the time when this journal first appeared has had great impact not only on the progress of the gastric pathology but also on the progress of the radiographic diagnosis of early polypoid cancer. The history of the "Stomach and Intestine" reflects the history itself on the progress of the morphologic diagnosis of the gastrointestinal tracts. It is an urgent problem to begin a work for handing down the highly accomplished achievements in the diagnostic radiology and endoscopy to the following generation.
