Study was conducted on colonic adenoma using our data: 281 lesions of colonic adenoma periodically observed for 1 year to 6 years 11 months,76 lesions of adenoma either polypectomized or surgically removed,107 lesions of m cancer and 25 lesions of sm cancer.

 The results are as follows.

 1. Periodic observations showed that colonic adenoma neither transformed into malignancy nor increased in size.

 2. Most of the sessile elevations were sm cancer followed by m cancer in frequency, while a great majority of adenomas were polypoid in shape.

 3. Clinical observations for 2 to 3 years showed that m cancer did not change in size or shape.

 4. There was a significant discrepancy between biopsy findings and histological diagnoses using resected specimen. Biopsy findings tended to be underdiagnostic of malignancy.
