The residual/local recurrent early gastric cancer after endoscopic treatment is discovered as an intramucosal lesion by appropriate follow-up, and clinical rescue is possible through local treatment of the lesion.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)is extremely useful for the residual/local recurrence lesion after conventional Endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR), and there will be few cases needing surgical resection. On the other hand, when using ESD it is most important to present recurrence because re-ESD for the residual/local recurrence lesion after ESD is extremely difficult. Therefore, it is required that the initial ESD results in complete resection. When we conduct endoscopic resection, we have to devise a way of treatment to prevent recurrence, according to the situation. This involves the skills of the endoscopists, accurate observation of and biopsy specimens.
