 On March 29, 2024, the ministerial regulations on professional education at speech-language-hearing therapist (SLHT) training institutions were amended, and a new curriculum will be implemented for the students starting in the 2025 academic year. This amendment, which is the first to be introduced since 1997 when SLHT was established as a national qualification and the minimal standard of educational program was officially announced, aims to improve the quality of SLHTs in response to changes in the social and medical situation. The purpose of this study is to give an overview of the background and the key points of the new regulations and to compare them with those of other medical professionals. In addition, the challenges facing the SLHT professional education are discussed.
