Aims: To compare the ability to practice nursing and Self-Compassion between Partnership Nursing System(PNS) implementation and non- PNS implementation.

Methods: Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 1,081 nurses. The questionnaire consisted of basic attributes, the Nursing Excellence Scale in Clinical Practice(NES) and the Short Form of the Japanese version of the Self-Compassion Scale(SCS-J-SF). Participants were divided into two groups, those who implemented PNS(PNS group) and those who did not(non-PNS group). The t-test was conducted after adjusting for confounding factors using propensity scores.

Results: We obtained 890 valid responses from participants(209 in the PNS group, 681 in the non-PNS group) (valid response rate, 82.3%). After adjustment for propensity score, the sample size was 70 in PNS group and 70 in the non-PNS group. NES scores were not significantly different between the two groups. The PNS group was significantly higher than the non-PNS group in Self- Kindness(p = .021) and Common Humanity(p = .003).

Conclusion: The results suggest that PNS may increase positive aspects of Self-Compassion.
