乳房専用PET検査は，¹⁸F-FDG PETが保険収載されてから約10年となる2013年7月に保険収載された。この頃は，日本核医学会の「乳房専用PET診療ガイドライン」の発行や，複数の乳房専用PET装置の薬事承認もあり，乳房専用PETの臨床応用が現実となった大きな節目の時期であった。それから約10年の時が経つが，この間にも様々な知見が発表され，挑戦も続いている。本稿では，乳房専用PETの歴史と挑戦を振り返りたい。

Breast PET examinations using positron emission mammography（PEM）or dedicated breast PET（dbPET）were covered by insurance in July 2013, approximately 10 years after ¹⁸F-FDG PET was covered by insurance. The period around this time was a major milestone in the realization of the clinical application of breast PET, with the publication of breast PET guidelines by the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine and the regulatory approval of several breast PET systems in Japan. Almost 10 years have passed since then, and during this time, various findings have been published and challenges continue. In this article, we review the history and challenges of breast PET.
