I．はじめに

　咬筋肥大症は比較的稀な疾患とされており，わが国ではまだその手術的治療の報告も多くはない。最近われわれはCTにより確定診断を得，咬筋部分切除による形成手術を行い良好な結果を得た片側性咬筋肥大症の1例を経験したので，その治療経過を報告するとともに若干の文献的考察を加えたい。

　A 24-year-old woman with masseteric muscle hypertrophy was treated surgically. CT scan revealed remarkable hypertrophy of the unilateral masseter muscle. The lower and inner portion of the muscle was resected by extraoral approach. Asymmetry of the lower face was corrected perfectly without any functional disturbance.

　Through a review of the treatments for the masseteric muscle hypertrophy, we concluded that the extraoral surgical correction is simple and effective method.
