　I．はじめに

　鼻涙管狭窄は耳鼻咽喉科と眼科の接点に位置し，境界領域としての疾患のあつかいを受けてきたが，最近は顔面外傷や副鼻腔手術の術後に生じた鼻涙管障害が社会医療の面でも問題になつており，耳鼻咽喉科医にとつてもやはり重要な疾患の1つといえよう。

　従来鼻涙管狭窄の診断にあたつては造影を行なつてきたが，症例によつてはその狭窄のために十分な影像が得られず，手間がかかるわりには比較的得られる情報に乏しい検査法であつた。

　For the diagnosis of the stenosis of nasal lacrimal duct, visualization technics have been employed but quite often x-ray visualization of this particular area is a failure and the results are often disappointing in spite of the effort spent.

　The author undertook to investigate a method by which a diagnosis of the lacrimal duct stenosis from an ordinary x-ray picture may be derived. They conclude that the nasal lacrimal duct may be best visualized with exposure of the patient under Waters' position.
