I．はじめに
上顎洞の拡張性病変，あるいは，レントゲン像での陰影増強をみる例において，これを穿刺，あるいは開洞してみると，洞内にコレステロール結晶を含む貯留液を認めることは，しぼしばわれわれの経験するところであるが，これらの中に，コレステロール結晶が，壁に多量に付着しているもの，肉芽増生を認め，骨欠損がみられるものなどがあり，組織を鏡検すると，コレステリン肉芽腫であつた例を経験した。これまで，上顎領域におけるコレステリン肉芽腫は稀とされており，その疾患像は明らかにされていない。そこで，当科における同疾患を集計したところ，昭和46年から50年までの5年間に2例が該当したため，その報告を行ない，既に報告されている症例も合わせて，その病態像を少しでも明らかにしてみたい。
Although cholesterol granuloma in the maxillary sinus is rare in occurrence, its character as an expanding lesion is confusing with maxillary malignancy.
Two cases of cholesterol granuloma which occurred concomitantly with maxillary cyst are reported.
The first case: A 74 year-old woman complained of a swelling of the left cheek for more than 10 years. Operation revealed a cystic formation in the upper jaw that contained 25 ml of fluid with cholesterol crystals. Cholesterol granuloma was found on the inferior and lateral cystic wall.
The second case: A man, aged 49, recently developed a swelling in the right cheek on the same side in which Caldwell-Luc operation was performed 20 years ago. Cholesterol granuloma was discovered in the medial wall of the post-operative maxillary cyst which contained fluids with cholesterol crystals.
