Ⅰ．緒言

　古典的鼓室形成術の問題点は次の三つに大別される。

　1．皮弁　2．術後乳突腔の問題　3．耳小骨連鎖再建，などである。

　In 71 ears fasciotympanoplasty was perfor med which dealt with a primary closure of the mastoidectomy wound and preservation of the integrity of the external canal. The results were as follows:

　1. The number ears that retained hearing within 30db were:

　Type 1 47 ears out of the 48 operated, Type 3 15 ears out of the 23.

　2. In the ears in which incudo-stapedial joint separation was found kapselplastic operation was performed: preservation of hearing among these were within 20 db.

　3. Operative and postoperative ears of the mastoid cavity are discussed.
