　まえがき

　耳管扁桃肥大症とは耳管扁桃の肥大によつて耳管狭窄症を来した場合を言うのであつて，1939年J．A．M．A．に発表されたCroweの論文以来注目されて来た疾患である．先に私は耳管狭窄症の放射線療法に関する研究の中で，本問題に関する論旨の一端を述べたのであるが，今回は耳管扁桃肥大症による難聽の治療に就て，手術的療法と放射線療法との関係をやや詳しく症例に就て論じたいと思う．ここに諸賢の御批判を切に望むものである．

KITAGAWA selected 6 cases of hypertrophic E-ustachian tonsils fop clinical follow-up studies from among 20 such cases that are commonly met with in children. As preliminary step in treatment aden-otonsillectomy or adenotomy, as the case may requi-re, are performed. If, after 2 weeks the allotted time for recovery from effects of surgery, no impro-vement in hearing is recognized irradiation therapy is immediately resorted to. When operative proceed-ure is in an may contra-indicated irradiation therapy should be instituted from the very beginning. That recurrence of the condition after the cure has been once established is highly possible in either state sh-ould be kept well in mind.
