SUZUKI and associates develop a procedure which they call, Oto-Salpingography, in which the auditory tube by instillation of molyodol is made visible on X-Ray picture. A special bifurcated canula is devised and used for this instillation; the position of the head, besides the usual Renaud's position, is held in such a way as to bring the auditory tube into a straight line. There seem to be no untoward reaction in connection to use of this agent except, one case in particular, the opaque material proceeded into the mastoid air cells through the antrum and an examination of the patient a month later showed the opacity to be in an identical position without any change whatsoever. From the standpoint of physiology of the mastoid air cells an accident of this nature should be avoided with utmost care. With patients whose tympanic membranes are ruptured the opening may be taken advantage of for a portal of instillation with use of a syringe provided with a rubber tubing tipped with an olive.
