I．はじめに

　くも膜炎に骨化が起こった病態を骨化性くも膜炎という^1,7,10）．臨床上注意していると，脳神経外科医も偶然これに遭遇することがあり，病理学的には剖検の報告も数多くみられ，決して稀有なものではない^25,9）

　しかし症便性骨化性脊髄くも膜炎は極めて稀で，本邦ではわれわれの知るかぎり5例の報告をみるにすぎない^3,6,8,12）．

A 58-year-old female was admitted because of lumbago and dysesthesia on the lateral aspect of the left leg. She had myelographies and spinal operations 4 years ago. Metrizamide myelogram on admission revealed the findings of adhesive arachnoiditis. Dur-ing operation, four plaques involving the caucla equina were found, removed and histologically proved to be osseous tissue.

In reviewing the previously published cases of arachnoiditis ossificans, it is divided into two forms. One is incidentally found in the arachnoid membrane at the time of an autopsy or spinal operation.
