　巨大な小脳橋角部腫瘍26例におけるAICAと顔面神経との関係について報告したが，両者の位置関係はきわめて密接であり，AICAの偏位は顔而神経の偏位に一致していることが多く，これら腫瘍の摘出にあたっては，AICAを保存するための1つのガイドとして顔而神経はきわめて重要な役割を果たすものである．

The anterior inferior cerebellar artery crosses the cerebellopontine angle cistern in close association with the seventh and eighth cranial nerves and supplies the lower pons, medulla, and anterior portion of the cerebellum. If this artery is occluded during operation on a c-p angle tumor, a grave danger to the patient will be resulted. This derives from damage to the autonomic pathways caused by infarction of the tegmenturn of the pons²⁾.
